Sex: When Energy Seeks Expression

Battery to Bliss: Harnessing Life-Energy for Enlightenment

When Energy Seeks Expression

Sex is not naturally about reproduction — that is just one possibility. When your system is low on energy, it instinctively begins to seek ways to recharge itself. The body and mind turn toward what promises a surge of vitality. This seeking often expresses itself through the six distinct distortions of the human mind — desire, anger, greed, delusion, pride, and jealousy.

If one is unaware, these instinctive movements become compulsions that drive life in endless loops of longing and frustration. But if one becomes conscious, the same energies can turn into pathways — from bondage to liberation, from mere survival to transcendence.

The state of low energy and the journey toward higher consciousness

When the Energy Falls, the Mind Starts Crawling.

How much ever energy you have right now, it is never enough — because for enlightenment, you need an overflow, not just a trickle. A Brahmachari walks that path — not of denial, but of direction. He is consciously, meticulously using his energies. When the world needs him, he acts; when it doesn’t, he simply rests in bliss and ecstasy within himself.

Until the being realizes its ultimate nature, it cannot truly settle. There will always be a certain restlessness — a longing that no amount of comfort or pleasure can dissolve. To reach that stillness, one needs energy — not the kind that comes from food or sleep, but the kind that comes from awareness.

Whenever your energy dips, the body and mind start looking for substitutes — food, sex, entertainment, gossip, anger — some way to get a little more juice to keep the system alive. That’s what survival is — the minimum charge needed to not fall dead. It’s not wrong, but it’s a compulsive way to live.

If you observe, this is happening everywhere.
A tired employee scrolls endlessly through his phone — not because he wants information, but because his energy is low.
A person overeats — not because he’s hungry, but because his energy has dipped and food gives a temporary push.
A couple fights, makes up, and calls it love — it’s just energy trying to find balance through drama.

When you live like this, life is just about keeping the battery from dying. But when you learn to conserve and channel your energies consciously, when your system overflows with vitality — that’s when the journey towards health & enlightenment truly begins.

Mystical and experiential

“Sex is just a small taste of Samadhi.”
For a moment, it gives you a sense of union — a glimpse beyond yourself. But because it happens through the body, it remains limited, momentary.

If you turn inward, that same longing for union becomes awareness — what was a spark of pleasure becomes a vast stillness. That’s Samadhi.

If you turn outward, that same energy becomes distorted — lust, anger, greed, delusion, pride, jealousy — the six distortions of life.
They are the desperation of energies, constantly seeking fulfillment through unconscious action.

When energy moves without awareness, it breeds dis-ease. The realised ones called it karma — because it was your responsibility to keep it well, but you twisted it in ignorance.

What could have been turned inward toward liberation, you threw outward in desperation. What was sacred, you wasted. What was life, you discarded. That is karma.

The whole thing is the level of energy.
When your energy is low, identification with the physical is high. Life then seeks to express itself outward, in self-protection and survival. The more you give yourself to these distortions, the farther you move from the truth of who you are.

But if your energy is high and turned inward, awareness blossoms. Then, what was once a compulsion becomes a doorway to liberation.

From Survival to Transcendence

Survival means everything you do just to maintain your physical existence — eating, sleeping, reproducing, protecting yourself. It’s the most fundamental instinct of life. Every creature, from an ant to a human, is engaged in survival.

But for a human being, life is not meant to stop there. Once survival is taken care of, something within naturally begins to long for more — to expand, to know, to experience something beyond the physical. This longing is not an idea; it’s the next step in evolution.

The question is — will you let your instincts drag you in cycles of survival, or will you turn the same energies into a doorway to the divine?

When awareness rises, what was once compulsion becomes consciousness. What was survival becomes transcendence.

The Six Arishadvargas — The Inner Distortions

The Arishadvargas (also spelled Arishad Vargas or Ari Shad Varga) are known in yogic and spiritual traditions as the six inner enemies — subtle distortions that prevent consciousness from realizing its full potential.

Ari means enemy, Shad means six, and Varga means group or set.
Together, they mean “the group of six inner enemies.”

1. Kāma (Desire or Lust)

When your energy begins to move outward seeking fulfillment through the senses, it takes the form of kāma. Desire is beautiful when it flows consciously, but when it becomes an unconscious chase for pleasure, it binds you to what you seek.

2. Krodha (Anger)

When desire is obstructed, the energy that was moving outward hits resistance and rebounds — that rebound is krodha. Anger is not a moral problem; it is simply energy turned against yourself.

3. Lobha (Greed)

When desire finds fulfillment but consciousness is still absent, the mind wants to repeat it endlessly — that repetition is lobha. Greed is the sign of a restless energy seeking permanence in impermanent things.

4. Moha (Delusion or Attachment)

When energy identifies itself with what it gathers — wealth, people, or ideas — it becomes moha. Attachment is the illusion that what you hold can hold you forever.

5. Mada (Pride or Arrogance)

When the ego begins to take ownership of energy, thinking “I am the source,” it becomes mada. Pride blinds you from seeing that what you call “I” is just life’s process flowing through you.

6. Mātsarya (Jealousy or Envy)

When energy compares itself, measuring its worth against another, it turns to mātsarya. Jealousy is the suffering of separation — the pain of not knowing that what you envy is already within you.

How These Distortions Arise

Dr. Parth often reminds — “Energy is not good or bad; it is just energy.”
Distortion happens when energy flows through an unconscious system.

When your awareness is low, energy expresses itself as survival instincts — the arishadvargas.
When awareness rises, the same energy becomes devotion, compassion, and liberation.

The choice is never about suppressing or fighting these instincts; it’s about transforming them. The fire of desire can either burn you down or light your way — it depends on whether you hold the flame consciously or unconsciously.

The Science of Transformation

In human science, every distortion is a doorway.
If lust becomes love, anger becomes passion, greed becomes giving, delusion becomes clarity, pride becomes confidence, and jealousy becomes inspiration — you are no longer ruled by instincts but guided by awareness.

When the same energy that seeks pleasure begins to seek truth, life becomes not a compulsion but a consecration.

That is the journey — from the six enemies to the one consciousness.
